~  working together,  growing independence

We offer work experience in horticulture to adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs; we sell naturally grown vegetables and plants (specialising in unusual perennials) from our three sites in Northumberland, UK.

Growability is the trading name for three training units (right) provided by Northumberland County Council and managed by Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust.

[It is no longer a not-for profit company limited by guarantee. The company “Growability” was dissolved on 9th May 2012]

Please follow the links below to each of our three sites if you are interested in finding out more about our service or in buying some of our produce.

* Hepscott Park HSU (near Morpeth)

We produce an occasional newsletter, “Branching Out”.

The refurbishment of the Horticultural Skills Unit at Hepscott Park (which first opened in 1985) started in October 2011, and is now complete. This included major improvements to the main building, and the replacement of all three glasshouses. The largest glasshouse – shown in the advert above – is open to the public for plant sales. There will be an official opening in July 2012.

The next phase of this substantial investment in the service by NCC is the construction of a café adjacent to the glasshouses. This started in March and is expected to be completed this summer

The Garden Station, Langley, Northumberland: This is an interesting place for a visit, is a near neighbour of THS at Ridley Hall, and a useful outlet for our plants.
